Crazy Cold

December 16th, 2008

So our little running group has a cold cut off…it is -20 wind chill.  And this morning, depending on what web site you decided to look at, we hit it.

Since I’ve been having a little bit of a motivational issue as of late, I was actually looking forward to the cold.  Seriously, you do have to be a bit off to do it, but once you have, you feel like you can brave the world AND WIN.

Needless to say, at 5:01 am we were all emailing back and forth in a frenzy and we decided to bag it.

All except Todd and he lives to tell the tale.

So not appropriate

Ok, if you did not see the over the top digital short on Saturday Night Live last Saturday, here it is…

And here

December 9th, 2008

is what Lucy did during the party.

Unfortunately The Bickersons had a babysitter bail and could not make it AND THEN were kind enough to let the dog have a sleep over.

Thanks again!

Soiree

December 8th, 2008

Every so many years, we decide to throw a holiday party.  These parties strangely enough usually coincide with me being pregnant.   However, this year, it did not…thank God.

I am usually really good about capturing events with my camera but this time I don’t have a lot to show for myself.  This might be my favorite of the few I have.  Or this.  I don’t know, there are a few others but I was just too busy drinking Old Fashions to remember.

Anyway.  This Soiree, that brought some of our closest and dearest people together for one night, to drink till they were silly, eat till they were full and just plain old enjoy each others company while in cocktail dresses, was a success in so many ways.

Most of all, it reminds me how lucky I am to be surround by so many wonderful people.

Cheers!

I’m so nice I might just stab them

December 4th, 2008

Late last night I took Lucy for a walk around the neighborhood.  As I crested the hill I noticed a mini van that was parked on the street and someone had left all the internal lights on.

I stood there for a second thinking, should I go knock on the door and tell them their lights are on because every time we leave the mini van lights on it totally kills the battery.  No, that would be weird and dark night walker strange.  No, it’s a nice thing to do and I would want to know if it was my van. So I walked to the door.

I could tell from standing outside the house that these people were guests who were over for dinner and they were enjoying their time together.

Until I rang the door bell.

Then they all scattered to a back room and waited until I went away to creep back out of the dark where they hide.

Seriously? I so hope that sapped all the juice right out of their battery.

Things I never thought I would be doing

December 2nd, 2008

1.  hide my shoes so they do not get eaten by a dog
2.  blow dry a dog
3.  wash a dog’s butt on a regular basis
4.  wonder if the glass Christmas tree ornament that was eaten yesterday will perforate a dog’s bowel
5.  get up at 2:00 am to change a DOG’s bedding, because she wet the bed
6.  get a dog to get an emergency grooming at Pet Smart, on a Sunday, due to a walk that resulted in running off leash on a hardly frozen lake, eating dead squirrel parts and many, many, MANY burrs that could not be taken out by a rookie.
7.  Love a dog so much that I don’t want to kill her when I see eaten dog beds.

Boy, I just wish she would have eaten up the $8.00 Costco bed instead, oh well.
