It’s taken me awhile
Today I pulled my Dad’s Caring Bridge site down from my links. I have thought about it often but haven’t been able to do it.
It’s like throwing away the left over cards from his funeral.
These are little bits and pieces that are left of him, so getting rid of them are difficult if not agonizingly painful.
To the living this is all we have left, the papers, the books, the sweaters, the tangible things we can still hold, touch and smell. Why on earth would you want to get rid of that? If that is gone you have nothing to hug and hold, feel or touch. But I can’t keep these things forever.
So we plant trees to visit, to sit next to and to summon the memories. Every time we drive around Lake Calhoun the kids want to stop and visit grandpa’s tree.
I took this photo a month or so ago. It says so much to me. The kids just hang’n out, playing and watching the sun set in one of the most beautiful parts of the city that my dad loved.
I find him here most. The memories come flooding back for me in this place. As the kids play, I know he is there taking part in it all.

I decided this morning, as the sun was rising over lake Minnetonka and I was 15 miles into a 35 mile bike ride with a run to shortly follow, that I should change things up on Circuslunch for the summer.
Seeing I have had a hard time finding the time to post much of anything, I decided that I will simply do a photo journal of sorts. Posting a photo a day. There may be words, there may not. It won’t be limited to “the best” or “the worst” moments of the day, just simply moments.
And today we begin.
Summer 2011: Day 1
Sun rise ride around Lake Minnetonka.

I couldn’t resist this shot…it’s really less about the boys and more about the wicked cool clouds overhead.
I’m stills stuck in Hipstamatic heaven, bear with me.

This is for Erik, who keeps badgering me about putting something else up so he doesn’t have to look at my dog anymore.

Thanks to Dooce, I spent the weekend taking photos with my iphone and the Hipstamatic App.
Foxi Roxi and her 41st birthday cake.
St. Joan’s Palm Sunday’s Service. This is darkness coming over the land!
KP pondering life.
Lucy pondering a duck.
PJ pondering her ever changing creative abilities.
Me, moments off my bike, pondering how I will survive the next 6 months of training.
What are you going to shoot today?

I used to think Adam was so HOT in High School.
And after 23 years, not much has changed in that regard.
I love you.
Happy Anniversary, again.
The camera of my dreams
So I’ve done it.
I finally, after years of pining, purchased an exquisite camera FOR MYSELF.
What can I say but…I’m giddy!
Off to school
This was yesterday.
CT had just rolled out of bed and wasn’t ready yet.
PJ is set and ready to roll. In fact, she ran onto the bus so fast that I had to go on after her to kiss her goodbye.
KP was all ready but had to wait another day for school to begin, but got to visit for an hour and hang out with his new class mates.
All in all, the day went pretty smoothly.
And today…KP headed off to his first day of ALL DAY Chinese Immersion Kindergarten (didn’t even want to stop for a photo-can you tell by the blur?).
With his big brother giving him ample instructions before leaving the door, his big sister taking his hand as they stepped onto the bus together and his wide anxious eyes waiting for all the new adventures to begin, I am sure this day too will be great.
Unless he goes insane because he has no idea what the teacher is talking about.
I’ll let you know if that happens.
