Just wondering…

Would you…
Let your nine year old stay home with the other two kids while you went on a 30 minute bike ride?
Pull over to the side of the road to have your kid take their time out outside of the vehicle?
Serve your kids corn dogs for 3 consecutive nights in a row?
Send your precious 5 year old to a drop off program for 6 and up?
Would you?

Nate and just debated going for a run together this morning. I think it’s time.
We’ve been eating brats and/or noodles for the past two weeks.
I sent Peter, 5, to the drop-off program last week.
So, either we’re normal parents dealing with the same issues or we’re both spiraling downward into some deep parenting abyss.
Cheers!
Knowing your kids, the only safe place for them is in prison. (I kid, but not really. No, I am totally kidding. Kind of.) E stayed home alone for about an hour and a half yesterday for the first time. Quick answers: yes, DEFINITELY, probably (then A would crucify me for not including a fruit or veggie), FOR SURE!
Marginal parenting ROCKS. Marginal Parents UNITE!
I helped my 9 year-old lie about his age so he could have a Facebook account. This morning I used a steak knife to help him make a sawed-off Nerf shotgun.
Yes on the home alone thing.
Have done the outside the car time out on a few occassions.
Substitute plain hotdogs for the corn dog and I’m right with you.
Depends on the 5 year old. One of mine would have probably refused to go — or would blow if asked her real age!
They even go to bed sometimes with filthy summer feet. (I’m really not that proud of that one, but wanted to emphasize my ‘marginal-ness!’)
Uh, yes. And how about occasionally taking the kids to soccer with a big plastic cup filled with ice and sauvignon blanc . . . (for me, not them).
Tip for Peg: Put your kids in loft beds and you never really even have to look at all the sand and dirt in their beds.
