Of course you found that by the lake and are using it to put your shells in.

All good news today.

Ok, a touch anemic…but who cares.

Today we take what we can get.

January 9th, 2009

I just realized today that Erika is the one person, next to my kids, who I photograph the most.

And since today is her birthday, I would like to show you a few of my favorites.  It was a hard decision, there are so many.

Happy 36th birthday beautiful girl!

PJ ran away today.

I will take 50% of the blame.

I asked her to come back to the bus stop to talk something over with a friend she had a fight with.

She WOULD NOT!

So she got mad at me and said she was not going to live in our house anymore (I know…seriously big jump).

I said, “fine…good luck!” and walked away.

She said she was going over to Dr. B’s house.

I said, “call me when you get there.”

And she fucking did.

Once I got there (to make sure she was safe and sound, not raped, molested, picked up by the police or eaten by a wolf since she walked through the forest to get there) we sat down on the step to straighten things out.

I told her how much I loved her and that it made me sad that she just left and maybe we could start out by talking about what happened on the bus.

She told me about the disagreement with her friend and then she told me she wanted Dr. B to adopt her and that she wants to live with their family instead.

Congratulations Nick & Lynn!

What an amazing day.

Thanks for letting us be a part of it.

What do you see today?

Mom, I cleaned all the carrots out of the garden

September 19th, 2008

Creating a little plot to grow vegetables has been one of the most joyful things I have done with my time this summer.

It’s not the fact that we have reaped bushels and bushels full of produce. It’s the fact that every time I turn around, KP has found another wonder.

At the beginning of the summer I would find him sitting on the grass snapping off sugar snap peas and popping them in his mouth, then came the basil that he would pick and smell and eat, now the peppers and tomatoes and the carrots that get taken right off the vine or out of the ground, wiped off and chewed up.

He doesn’t even care that everything is a little wrong or obsurdly small or still green (versus red), he just knows they grew because we loved them so much.
