Happy Birthday Jen!
My friend Jen does deserve a wonderful birthday cake for her birthday. However I did not have time for that and come up with what might be my best creative use of what we had around the house to date. All the treats where from the Zodiac Walk at this past weekend’s Chinese New Year Festival at PJ’s school.
Who wouldn’t want all that served up on a pedestal cake plate?
Created with love.

Once again I found myself doing something I said I would NEVER do. But this time, I was smart enough to stop. Here’s my 24 hour journey.
Adam, as you may remember, does a Fat Flush every so often. I have never wanted to do one, until I found myself maybe wanting to do one with him. So, we got all the supplements and all the fresh food and Thursday morning we were off and running.
I started the day with a longevity cocktail (unsweetened cranberry juice and psyllium husk) at 5:00 am. Then ran. Then came home to warm lemon water, fish oil, flax seed oil and an egg white, onion omelet and feeling very drained.
Finding myself still excited at this point, I went to the gym to lift. While at the gym my body was not really wanting to do much. When I changed out of my gym clothes and into my swim suit, walked into the pool to find no lanes open, it took me no time at all to decide that was enough, thanked the sweet baby Jesus and headed to the shower.
I got KP from child care and we head home and directly to the fridge. At this point, my head throbbed and my muscles felt like they were simply cannibalizing each other. My lunch of sauted (with no oil) onions, lean ground beef and tomatoes looked and smelled great, but didn’t taste like much.
The downward spiral had begun.
The rest of the afternoon got no better. In fact, I became a raving bitch. I’m not kidding. The rage that sits just slightly under my surface was coming out full throddle on anybody and anything that caught my path.
By the time dinner rolled around, I was so beyond hungry. I had that nauseous feeling and couldn’t care less about even making food. When I did finally muster up enough gumption to make it, I just swore at it.
Then the second longevity cocktail came around at 10:30, I thought I was going to cry. I did my best to suck it down. Watching Adam chug-it like a champ, only made it worse. I went to bed…mad.
The morning sun came up, I felt ok and had an amazing poop. But then the rush to get all the kids up, fed and out the door in 30 minutes (due to over sleeping) put me over the edge. I walked PJ to the bus and continued on with the morning ritual of bringing the dog on her walk.
As I made it back up the drive, weak, tired and hungry, I decided it was not worth it. Not worth my sanity. My energy. My strength.
I may be a walking toxic bomb, but I don’t care.
So I went inside, made myself a cup of coffee and a bowl of cereal with berries. In a flash the Wicked Flush Queen transformed back into the nice girl from Minnie.
It feels so good to be back.

Today was the kick off to marathon training with a 5 to 7 mile run.
Unfortunately I had a bad start. I had to stop at a little under three miles due to twisting my ankle on a rock that I couldn’t see because the defrost on my eyeballs were not working due to the seriously negative windchill. I don’t think I have sworn than many times in a row, that loudly, in a long time.
Usually I am not smart enough to stop running. Today, with the cold and the ankle, I think it was wise, no matter if it is the first day or not.
I’m just going to put this out to the universe…I do not have a good feeling about this marathon. This hiccup doesn’t help. With my bunion still being burdensome, I fear serious pain in my future. I have no idea how I am going to finish this race in the time I want in any kind of good physical condition.
So, since I’ve said it here, I now must give it away.
Go away bad thoughts…BE GONE!

On the drive home from church on Sunday, Adam caught KP eating his boogers.
Every time he catches one of the kids eating their boogers he tells them that they’ll get worms. Which always makes me bristle…I mean REALLY, eating boogers gives you worms??? Come on!
So I called him out, in the car, in front of the kids. Since I was going that far, I though I would try to divide the family. You know, see who is on my side of the booger/worm question. So I put the bet out there, $5 dollars to dad if he is right.
And so it started.
Who wants in with mom? Who thinks mom is right? Boogers don’t give you worms. SILENCE.
Who thinks dad is right? Who thinks eating your boogers give you worms? All hands go up, chanting starts, DAD…DAD…DAD.
So when we got home, we Googled it.
Please post your comment before you look at the answer.

KP had one of his school buddies, Big C, over for a play date yesterday.
When we showed up for school this morning, Big C’s mom just had to share a little story that happened at their house last night.
When Big C was being put to bed, he told his dad that he better go lock the doors and make sure they were locked.
When his dad asked why, he said, “I was playing with one of KP’s big brother’s toys. He told me that I better not because he will hunt me down. So can you make sure the doors are locked.”

My mom was over to watch KP while I went to school for a meeting. As I was walking out the door this is what was said:

Me: I don’t have any makeup on.
Mom: You are going to a meeting with no makeup on?
Me: Yes, I am going to a meeting with no makeup on AND guess what? I didn’t even shower. I’m a volunteer, they’ll take anybody.
Racing 09
Yesterday I decided to sit down and plan my racing schedule for this season. I made the decision to do them all together AND try to print out copies of my registration confirmations due to last years snafu.
Funny enough, yesterday I was having printer problems and could not get the Life Time Fitness confirmation to print and then I closed the window and then I never got an email saying I had registered.
So, I emailed them. Spencer at Life Time says my name is on the list. When asked for a confirmation number, he said he could not get into the system but could send me a copy of my information and did. Believe you me when I say that if I go to “packet pick up” in July and my name is not on that list, I will personally find Spencer and and and and…it won’t be pretty.
ANYWAY, here is what the 2009 racing schedule looks like:
- Lake Minnetonka Half Marathon, May 3rd
- Minneapolis Marathon, May 31st
- Lake Minnetonka Triathlon (sprint), June 20th
- Freedom Run (2 or 5 miles) Sheboygan WI, July 4 *
- Life Time Fitness Triathlon (olympic), July 11th
- Chisago Lakes Triathlon (half iron), July 26th
*This is iffy, I’m going to try to get buy in from some of the cousins to do it with me and the rest of the extended family seeing it’s the annual family reunion. We’ll see how that goes.

About a week or so ago Mrs. Bickerson posted a video up on Facebook. I have been talking aout this clip for the past week and my impression, I am sure, can not do it justice.
So, for everyone who has heard about Hope and Hank’s little ditty, here it is.
Thanks Mrs. B.

This morning started differently than most. I was going to leave the house before most of the clan today. I needed to get to my dad’s chemo appointment and Adam was going to be the one who walked PJ to the bus stop and brought KP to school.
But before any of that happened, I was up and dressed, had kid’s clothes laid out, breakfast made, kids eating at the table, the dog fed and out, backpacks packed and while I was eking out my last few minutes at home by emptying the dishwasher, I heard the following at the kitchen table:
CT: Dad is doing everything today.
KP: I know, he’s even bringing me to school.
PJ: AND walking me to the bus stop. He is doing EVERYTHING!!!!!
I stop in my tracks with wet dish in hand and look over at the kitchen computer. There he is, sitting just two feet away from the kids in his underwear and a sweater, Twittering.
Yes, HE is doing everything!
